Drake has surprised fans by rapping over Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” beat in a new collaboration with Sexyy Red. The St. Louis rapper released her new album, In Sexyy We Trust, with little notice on Friday (May 24). Among the tracks is “U My Everything,” featuring Drake.
Although the track is primarily produced by Tay Keith, a portion of Drake’s verse features the beat that Metro Boomin originally made to mock him. In his verse, Drake raps:
“Why you love me? Still a mystery / Me and the surgeon got history / I changed a lot of girls’ lives for real / They need a new body, they hittin’ me,” followed by, “BBL Drizzy, they want a new body, they ask me for it / The last one, Jung, he did it for free ’cause I sent over so many past ones for him.”
“U My Everything” marks Drake’s second collaboration with Sexyy Red, following their track “Rich Baby Daddy” from his album For All the Dogs, which also features SZA.
Metro Boomin initially released the “BBL Drizzy” beat on SoundCloud earlier in May, adding fuel to the ongoing feud and rumors suggesting Drake had undergone a Brazilian butt lift. The producer even launched a contest for fans to freestyle over the beat, offering a free beat and later upping the ante with a $10,000 cash prize for the winner.
The term “BBL Drizzy” was coined by Rick Ross, who mocked Drake on social media, suggesting that the Toronto rapper had undergone plastic surgery. Ross posted side-by-side photos of Drake on Instagram, commenting, “The bridge of your nose somehow got smaller BBL Drizzy @champagnepapi.”
This unexpected twist in Drake’s music, rapping over a beat intended to mock him, adds an intriguing layer to his collaborations and ongoing feuds in the rap industry.
