Manchester artist $corpio is carving out his place in the UK music scene with a sound rooted in 90s rap and driven by substance rather than trends.

Raised in Manchester, the 43 year old artist draws inspiration from the golden era of American hip hop, focusing on lyricism, delivery and emotional honesty. His journey into music shifted from interest to intention after years of serious listening, when he began studying the craft and committed to creating his own material.

As the music industry has moved towards speed, algorithms and short attention cycles, $corpio represents a return to an era built on storytelling and depth. His work reconnects hip hop with its roots, offering nostalgia not as imitation but as intention, reminding listeners of a time when records were meant to be felt and replayed.

Entering the industry independently, $corpio booked studio time himself and actively applied for festivals, showcases and competitions. A defining moment came in 2025 when he performed at Manchester’s Band on the Wall, confirming his music was connecting beyond the studio.

Reflecting on his approach, $corpio says, “I make music to process things I could not say out loud at the time. It is about honesty and longevity, not chasing moments.”

Currently, $corpio is developing new music with a clearer vision and preparing for more commercial releases. His focus remains on creative freedom, ownership and building a catalogue that lasts.
