Azealia Banks Targets Rihanna and A$AP Rocky in Controversial Pro-Chris Brown Rant
Azealia Banks took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday (June 5) to launch a tirade against Rihanna and A$AP Rocky while defending Chris Brown.
Banks began by calling Brown the “best artist of this generation” and dismissed the backlash over his 2009 assault on Rihanna as “self-righteous bullshit.”
She then claimed that A$AP Rocky is gay, stating, “Look at who she’s with now. A guy that wears back-out shirts. He’s on camera shooting one of his best friends and kicking a female fan in the face. Really?”
Banks continued, “Rocky’s definitely a butch queen. I don’t know how nobody told Rihanna that. Maybe she likes it, maybe she’s into that stuff. But Rocky’s definitely not a straight man.”
She concluded her rant by saying, “Are we really responsible for trying to make Chris Brown’s life a living hell if Rihanna isn’t making good choices in partners? It’s kinda weird. Rihanna’s done a lot of menacing and messing with women just to end up with a gay boy—a broke, untalented gay boy at that.”
Despite Banks’ remarks, Rihanna has previously spoken about mending her relationship with Chris Brown. In a re-released 2012 interview on Oprah Winfrey’s “Supersoul Conversations” podcast in 2020, Rihanna opened up about their bond.
“We’ve been working on our friendship again,” she said. “Now we’re very close friends. We’ve built up a trust again. We love each other and probably always will. That’s not something you can shut off if you’ve ever been in love.”
She added, “I think he was the love of my life. He was my first love. And I see that he loved me the same way. It’s not even about us being together. I truly love him. The main thing for me is that he’s at peace. I’m not at peace if he’s unhappy or lonely.”
A$AP Rocky, however, doesn’t seem to have forgiven Brown for attacking Rihanna, with whom he shares two children. On his 2022 single “D.M.B. (Das Mah Bitch),” Rocky took a subliminal jab at Brown, rapping, “I don’t beat my bitch, I need my bitch.”
