Renowned artist and activist Common remained tight-lipped when questioned about the recently surfaced footage allegedly showing music mogul Diddy engaging in physical altercation with his former partner Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel.
In an encounter with TMZ reporters outside his Los Angeles hotel earlier this week, Common declined to offer his thoughts on the disturbing video, citing a preference for avoiding content that doesn’t align with positive energy.
“I haven’t seen it. I don’t like looking at a lot of things that – you know, I don’t watch videos of things that I feel won’t bring the right energy for me,” he stated. “But you know, God bless. To me, I don’t watch those, so I can’t say. I’m about love. You know that. I’m about peace so I’m about respecting human beings.”
Emphasizing his stance on compassion and respect, Common stressed his belief in refraining from passing judgment on others, asserting, “I don’t have authority. I’m a child of God so I don’t believe I have the position of power to judge or decide if someone deserves this or not. That’s between the creator and them. I just try to be as good a person as I can be and be as loving and respectful to others. I’m not perfect but I try to be.”
Common’s refusal to weigh in on the controversy reflects a broader sentiment of humility and empathy, as he underscores the importance of understanding each individual’s journey without casting unwarranted judgment.
